Funny, I continue to get responses to this old piece. Here's one from July 18, 2020:

"My husband and I watched Close Encounters last night. As soon as I heard Morgan Freeman's voice, I knew who it was, but (being sometimes forgetful in my older age) I couldn't remember his name! My husband recognized him, too, but also couldn't remember his name. So I looked at IMDB --- and they'd published the wrong name! They had David Anderson as the air traffic controller. We were saying, No way! The voice is way too distinctive. After the film (pretty bad, btw), I looked online again and found your blog. No one speaks with the distinctive elegance of Morgan Freeman. I'm 100% sure that's who it is."
