Nice article. Much of this is applicable to prose, as well. I like your overall attitude here--that you owe the reader nothing further than the text, and (importantly) that you also do not assume they're stupid. There's a style of writing where those two things are the opposite -- where everything is explained ad nauseum. And when you think about it, that's a rather narcissistic tone for a writer to have. Mean what you say, and say it correctly, eloquently, succinctly, etc., and set it free upon the world for some readers to fathom and others to perhaps never fully access. -JD (ps, small typo after "meaning and soul behind it" -- extra period).
