One thing I love about blogging and other forms of self-publishing is that, whatever one prefers style-wise (and, indeed, whatever rules one decides to follow or ignore), there’s complete freedom nowadays to have it the way you want it, online or in print. In past times when traditional publishing would have been print-only in newspapers or via book publishers, it must’ve been difficult for writers to have their work recast to adhere to rules or stylistic conventions they disagreed with. Funny how this comma business goes on and on… Nice to read your take on it in a formal article. :-)
