This story reminded me of reading, a while back, about a guy who reverse-engineered the randomness algorithm on a keno game (that, or maybe he noticed, as you mentioned in an example above, that the keno game was using the same initial seed daily). I also read once that a good seed, if you’re looking for something that changes a lot, is temperature — e.g., getting a reading from a thermometer source and/or maybe some weather API.
